Lot 9 Armando Ramos Ventura, California Fragment Still, 2025 Clay and metal 19 x 13 x 13 inches $1,400 – 1,600 Armando Ramos, based in California, is a contemporary artist and educator known for his sculptures, ceramics, and paintings. He currently heads the Sculpture Department and chairs the Art Department at Santa Barbara City College, exploring themes of duality and tension in his artistic practice. In Fragment Still, a blue ceramic egg is poised atop a twisted steel frame, which functions as a sort of setting, as if for a precious jewel. In this case, he presents us with an image that evokes the natural world and birth cycle alongside consumerist materials and production. This series of clay sculptures uses primary lines to explore the complexities of space, manipulating line thickness to convey depth. The lines traverse the space, some bending or curving in response to gravity, while others remain rigid and unyielding. Color accents punctuate the edges of each form, expanding and intensifying their contours.
