Underwritten by Dr. William F. Wosick, the Art Makers award is given annually to regional artists, or those with connections to the region, to support the creation of new works based on a singular idea or theme. Ramos was also featured earlier this year in the Museum exhibition, Art Makers: 10 Years, celebrating the legacy of the Series. Excerpt from a recent exhibition, My art practice serves as a playful counterpoint to the darker images and ideas that bombard us through mass culture. I utilize irony and humor to evoke a sense of parody in my work. As an artist, I am interested in the manipulation of images from everyday life and popular culture, and I explore how this visual information can be redirected to give life to my creations.
