Lot 18 Beth Dorsey Minneapolis, Minnesota Chaotic Patterns II, 2025 Monoprint 23 x 23 inches $600 – 800 Beth Dorsey is a Minneapolis based printmaker whose work evolves from the layering of images, marks, and colors. Domestic and industrial elements provide the main inspiration for her work. Through a process of happenstance, she creates imagery of blinds, woven scraps, building facades, windows, and textured materials. Her work begins with a plan but when the unexpected happens, she leans into and builds upon the irregularities and unintentional. According to the artist, My interest in printmaking is long standing, starting during my undergraduate years. Printmaking is a process of working in layers. Typically, when I start a series, I have only a vague idea of what I want to create, through the process of adding layers, the work emerges and a direction develops. I am intrigued with repetition within patterns, and ways to slyly manipulate and break their rhythm. A metaphor for life.
